Job Description

You will be responsible for supporting the operational performance of the farm within agreed production, quality, safety, and budget targets. This includes supervising staff and labour resources, monitoring crop performance, driving efficiencies, and ensuring compliance across WHS and quality systems.

You will directly oversee Farm Hands, Shed Hands, and Supervisors while working closely with Growers, Agronomists, HR, and external labour suppliers.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily farm and shed operations to meet production, quality, and safety targets

  • Supervise, train, motivate, and performance-manage farming teams

  • Coordinate labour requirements with HR and labour hire providers

  • Conduct daily toolbox meetings and staff inductions

  • Monitor crop health, irrigation, fertiliser application, and pest control (IPM)

  • Apply fertilisers and assist with maintenance of irrigation systems

  • Maintain strong focus on WHS through audits, incident reporting, and compliance

  • Oversee machinery pre-start checks, cleaning, and maintenance schedules

  • Assist with harvest forecasting, production reporting, and KPI tracking

  • Ensure QA accreditations, hygiene programs, and quality standards are maintained

  • Control site security, inventory records, and stocktakes

  • Drive continuous improvement across farming practices and efficiency

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ supervisory experience in banana farming

  • Strong understanding of crop management, irrigation, fertiliser, and pest control

  • Basic computer skills (Email, Word, Excel)

  • Sound communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities

  • Forklift Licence

  • Vehicle and Current Driver’s Licence
